370 26TH STREET AFFORDABLE APARTMENTS

In the past ten years, Oakland’s Uptown and Northgate neighborhoods have benefited from significant development of nearly 2,000 new homes. Almost all these homes are “market rate,” making them unaffordable to many. 370 26th Street is conceptual apartment development capable of delivering 55 affordable apartments where they are needed most. These homes consist primarily of family-sized apartments, designed to be spacious, accommodating and dignified – places that people will call home.

WHY MODULAR?

The floor plan of 370 26th Street is designed to be constructed in a factory and assembled on site. The floor plan is currently laid out for 55 homes, but can be changed to provide as many as 150 homes, depending on the demographic served (individuals, couples, roommates, or families). The housing modules developed here offer an efficient, elegant and easy way to assemble homes, with few variations in apartment plans allowing for uncomplicated production.
